"Social media campaigns need objectives"
"In terms of objectives – clients are often going back to the sort of core business drivers that all marketing should be measured against – sales, reduced customer service costs and more, with the reassurance that these too can now be measured. There’s a general sense of decisiveness – less of the testing, trying out, growing Facebook fan numbers for no good reason – and more real plans to make social work the way it should. Tactical campaigns are still happening, of course – but they are increasingly framed by a larger strategy. The idea that content is king (that hackneyed phrase) is being replaced by the idea that content can only be important if you have a plan behind it."

"Social media is digital narcissism"

“Social media is digital narcissism. Technology is changing human behaviour, it’s changing in a way in which we´re using it to promote ourselves. From our photographs to our taste, to what we’re playing on Spotify or Soundcloud. Why are we giving away so much of our information, so much of our intimate information: our reading habits our television habits, our listening habits, our political views? So that Facebook can be valued at 80 billion dollars, even though they’re not paying us for that information?"

"Big Brother pizza delivery"
As one of the commentators points out, this YouTubian video may be 5 years old, but looking at Facebook's public culture where everyday we share our preferences, thoughts, etc. this simulated reality will be arriving sooner than we expect.

"Food for thought"
"Social media has become such a part of our lives that people rarely even consider just how extreme their social behaviour has become - we log in as soon as we wake up, before we go to bed and even during mealtimes"--Amy Kean, head of the IAB social media council

"Food for thought"
"So you’ve accumulated 10,000 fans on Facebook. And? While 2010 became the year in which we raced to build up communities for visible brand advocacy, 2011 is the year in which marketers have to start making effective use of these groups."-- Callum Saunders in "Five social marketing trends for 2011"

Why bother reading the intellectual, sometimes nonsensical reviews from cinema critics when you have "fflick"!?
