Sharing housework

"When men do housework, it's most likely to be in the kitchen and least likely to be washing and ironing.
Women cook in 78% of cases and men in 23%; men and women share the cooking in 16%. Women do the washing and ironing in about four-fifths of households. Men wield the vacuum-cleaner once a week, while many women do so every, or every second, day."

A problem of "connections"

Across our "global village" it's starting to become quite common to see brand managers and marketers asking themselves what's the best way to reach the younger audiences, in order to create early bonds and get their pocket-money.

In my modest opinion, more than ever it's not a question of "content" or brand message, it's a question of "connections".

Here's some of the online spaces and habitats where the so-called "Geration Y" lives and breaths on a daily basis:

:: MySpace
:: Fuse TV
:: YouTube
:: Hi5
:: Friendster
:: Pandora
:: Last.fm
:: Current TV

"Slow life. Slow food."

The trend is not new, obviously. Nevertheless today we witness a degree of maturity that didn't exist in the past.

Just look at the growth of the consumer demand for organic food and ingredients; the recent introduction of salads, soups and fruits in the menu of the biggest fast-food chains around the world; the coming back of the "slow food" meal time ... and all of this backed up by recent and new anti-fast food and pro-healthy diet movements.

Extremelly clever, kudos to Ogilvy One, Bangkok.

Automated agencies

[Click on image to see the video]

Sir Martin "Why Pay People" Sorrell, Mr.WPP in action at Cannes last week:

"I've often thought how much easier it would be to run an advertising agency if you could only get rid of the creative department."

"It's the world's very first fully-automated creative department. Account planners simply stuff their briefs into its backside -- on the left where the wires are -- and within seconds multimedia, fully integrated award-winning ads come fizzing out the front at 35 kilometers per hour."

"And since the world is suffering from a vast surplus of data, this means that from now on account planners will be very cheap to run, which naturally appeals to me a great deal."

"Social advertising"

Here's an interesting trend: Big ad agencies buying space in hyper-visited blogs in order to showcase their creative work.

Well that's precisely what JWT has done through a partnership with the famous political blog "the Huffington Post".

There you'll be able to find out the written opinions of people like Charlie Sheen, George Clooney, Tina Brown and Harold Evans.

"Neophilia"

According with Japanese scientists there's a genetic explanation for impulse and "need-to-have" consumerism which is produced by a body enzyme.

A "Neophiliac" is a person who is genetically more predisposed than others to wanting the newest toys, gadgets and fashions. The term "Neophilia", the love for everything new or novel, is already on Wikipedia.
